Plant-based meat brand Beyond Meat is expanding its range of meat-free products to include a brand new vegan steak.

Entrepreneur Ethan Brown revealed the news to The Wall Street Journal, where he described the faux steak as “probably one of our best products to date”.

When will Beyond Meat’s vegan steak launch?

Brown said the new product will likely launch later this year – first in retailers and ‘eventually’ in restaurants. No specific timescale for the launch was confirmed.

It will be Beyond Meat’s first vegan ‘whole’ piece of meat – as its current portfolio consists of vegan sausages, vegan burgers, meatballs, and more.

However, details on the ingredients, formula, and packaging remain unknown.

The news comes after the company reported another slow quarter, with a net loss of $100.5 million, or $1.58 a share.

According to Food Dive: “Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, debt and amortisation was a loss of $78.9 million.”

Beyond Meat partnerships

Despite stagnant sales, Beyond Meat seems determined to bolster through the struggle with its array of partnerships.

Recently, the brand teamed up with Disneyland Paris to launch its plant-based offerings across the entire resort.

Disneyland Paris has been progressing in its ambition to be both an innovative and sustainable tourist destination. This partnership is the latest step for the resort towards meeting its environmental goals.

Speaking about the partnership in a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living: General Manager EMEA, Beyond Meat’s Jorg Oostdam, said: “Partnering with Disneyland Paris, a beloved and iconic brand who shares our vision of a better future, is a true milestone for us as we make plant-based meat more accessible throughout Europe.

“As more consumers gravitate towards flexitarian diets, we’re looking forward to surprising and delighting Disneyland Paris’ guests with our plant-based meat offerings that taste just as great as conventional meat and can help make a positive impact.”
