Club Med has launched vegan menus at its Punta Cana resort in the Dominican Republic – making it easier for holidaymakers to eat a plant-based

Travel company  Club Med has expanded its partnership with vegan chef Chloe Coscarelli, who is widely known thanks to her former restaurant chain By Chloe, to create its animal-free dishes at its newly-renovated resort in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

The 10 dishes, served exclusively at Club Med Punta Cana’s main restaurant, Hispaniola, include crispy orange tofu, pasta alla vodka with pine nut ricotta and spicy cashew kelp noodles.

According to Club Med, which has some 65 resorts worldwide, it is often difficult to source plant-based options when on an all-inclusive holiday, with vegans often resorting to basic fries, salads and rice for their meals.

As part of its efforts to become more vegan-friendly, the hotel chain’s food and beverage teams underwent training sessions with chef Coscarelli during Summer 2022.

Following the training, the company launched vegan menus at all eight of its Caribbean and Mexican resorts, working with Chloe Coscarelli to make them more welcoming to vegans.

Club Med becomes more vegan-friendly

During the sessions, staff learnt about how to put vegan dishes together, as well as hearing about the chef’s insights into plant-based cuisine.

Following the training, Club Med crafted vegan menus for its eight Caribbean and Mexican resorts.

These menus include dishes like grilled avocado with truffle vinaigrette, beetroot bourguignon, and tomato tartar with feta and pesto.

In addition to partnering chef Coscarelli, the travel company is also working with Beyond Meat.

It says that as well as offering guests more locally sourced and seasonal food, this partnership means they will also have more access to meat-alternative options.

Beyond Meat products rolled out at all of Club Med’s North American resorts at the end of 2022.
