Stockists of Kremke, Rellana and Katia, we have yarns for all projects. Vegan Cashmere ( yes, it is a thing), recycled cotton and denim, Tencel to Ekos – possibly the most environmentally friendly yarn in the world manufactured from recycled textiles in a closed loop system.
At last vegan knitters and crocheters of the world finally have a choice with 19 different yarns (with more to come) and hundreds of colours available.
Clever Cotton’s vegan Christmas crafting kits are now available.
What is vegan haberdashery?
We know why vegans don’t wear wool, but the craft alternatives can be a minefield.
Cotton isn’t a ‘clean’ crop when it comes to the environment as it’s very thirsty and uses a disproportionate amount of pesticides – up to 20% of global pesticide use. Then there is the issue of dyes – many dyes contain animal derivatives.
Following deeper research into ethically produced materials, Clever Cotton decided to create and curate the world’s first vegan haberdashery.
A place where there was a choice of ethical, sustainable and cruelty-free yarns to choose from – not just a token offering.
Concerned that a cross stitch kit doesn’t meet your ethical standards? Unsure if your craft supplies are vegan? Find plastics a pain? We carefully select our products by making sure their values align with ours – so the needle and notions manufacturers who strive to be plastic packaging free, invest in communities or are making inroads into minimising their environmental impact are who we chose to stock.
