Hershey’s has added a vegan version of its iconic peanut butter cups to its line-up.
The new Reese’s Plant Based Peanut Butter Cups will be rolling into stores across the US this month.
In addition, the chocolate giant will be launching a vegan chocolate bar – its Hershey’s Plant Based Extra Creamy with Almonds and Sea Salt – in April.
Hershey’s new products follow years of demands from consumers looking for animal-free versions of its classic treats.
The brand says its new options are aimed at vegan consumers, as well as those simply looking to live dairy-free.

In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Teal Liu, Brand Manager of Better For You, The Hershey Company, said: “We are excited to introduce these delicious, plant-based options.
“Our purpose is to create more moments of goodness for consumers. Those moments are now more accessible for chocolate lovers looking for plant-based alternatives.”
The brand added that while it has ‘long offered a wide variety of choices for consumers to enjoy’, it is now adding more types of treats, in a bid to ‘meet the changing needs of some snackers’.
Among its specialist offerings are portion-controlled treats, no sugar added, zero sugar, high protein, and now, plant-based.
The new treats will launch in stores including the Hershey’s Store, Rite Aid, and Target across the US over the next two months.

Vegan chocolate innovations
Hersheys joins a range of mainstream manufacturers who have added vegan options to their confectionery line-ups in recent years.
One of the first major brands to launch a plant-based product was Mars, who rolled out its first dairy-free Galaxy bars at the end of 2019, adding new treats to the line in subsequent years.
Chocolate giant Cadbury’s also joined the animal-free trend in Autumn 2021, offering two versions of its Dairy Milk alternative. And later that year, Ritter Sport rolled out its first UK vegan milk chocolate bar.
Meanwhile, lovers of the classic Terry’s Chocolate Orange had reason to celebrate last year, when the brand started offering a vegan version of the chocolate in time for Christmas.
