GALAXY has released a vegan version of its iconic Fruit and Nut bar – which is finally hitting the shelves for dairy-free fans just in time for Veganuary.

Just like the traditional dairy version, it is milky (thanks to hazelnut paste though, not cow’s milk).

And, as well as being rich and creamy, it is packed with juicy raisins and roasted hazelnuts.

The combination makes a deliciously fruity, vegan chocolate bar.

GALAXY Vegan Fruit and Nut is dairy-free, gluten-free and registered with The Vegan Society.

In addition to a 100g bar, GALAXY Vegan Fruit and Nut is also available in a 40g bar – perfect to pop in your bag or desk drawer for when you want a quick treat!

GALAXY Vegan Fruit and Nut will be available in Morrisons from January 22.

GALAXY vegan chocolate

The fruit and nut offering is not the first vegan chocolate bar from GALAXY. The brand offers a number of different options and flavours that are free-from cow’s milk.

Among its earlier offerings, towards the beginning of 2019 were three bars, dairy-free chocolate bars, which has been certified by the Vegan Society, smooth orange, caramel and sea salt and caramelised hazelnut.

Keen to make the products eco-friendly as well as vegan-friendly, the products will be packaged in a compostable film packaging, a first for Mars in its UK product range, made from wood fibre that can be composted at home.

Speaking about the launch, Kerry Cavanaugh, marketing director at Mars Wrigley UK, said: “We’re so excited to be bringing these delicious treats to Galaxy’s range using a vegan recipe that doesn’t compromise on the brand’s signature smooth and creamy characteristics.

“Wherever you look you can’t avoid the vegan buzz in the UK. Even though vegan treats are currently only worth £10 million in a £4 billion chocolate market, we think that by introducing Galaxy, one of the UK’s best-known brands, there is a huge opportunity for the category to grow.”

The range grows

Since its first offerings, the range has continues to grow with options for sweet-toothed vegans.

In September 2020, two new flavours were added to the line; Galaxy Vegan Smooth Mint and Galaxy Vegan Crumbled Cookie (£3).

As with the other vegan-friendly products, the new bars were packaged in a compostable film packaging made from wood fibre that could be composted at home.

Mars Chocolate Drinks & Treats GM Michelle Frost said Mars was “delighted to extend our range to offer more consumers more choice”. According to Frost, the “bright eye-catching packaging creates real on-shelf standout to attract new consumers to the category.”

Since then, the brand has released vegan hot chocolate, white chocolate, and a salted caramel bar, creating an extensive range of vegan options for those looking for dairy-free treats.
