Rapper C5 has collaborated with PETA to release a music video with a pro-vegan message.

The California native, whose musical tribute to Taraji P. Henson went viral, covers all the reasons to ditch animal products in his new video, which is called Go Vegan.

Among them, he says are ‘saving animals from torment and death to bolstering human health and protecting the planet for future generations’.

In the video, C5 raps: “I was talkin’ to my good folks over at PETA. We all impactin’ the world from the things that we eatin’… All our rainforests vanishin’that’s a tragic sight for a meal that only lasts for a night.

“Is it worth it? We gotta start eatin’ our meals with purpose. If you love the animals, show compassion. If you want a better world, let’s make it happen.”

As he performs in different areas of Santa Monica and Venice, he wears a PETA T-shirt.

Supporting the message shared in C5’s music video, PETA said in a statement: “According to the United Nations, about a third of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions are linked to food production and the largest percentage of these emissions come from the meat and dairy industries

“PETA notes that growing water-intensive crops just to feed animals raised for food consumes more than half the water used in the U.S. and that up to 80 per cent of deforestation in the Amazon is linked to meat production, either for grazing or for growing food for cows.

“Vegan foods – such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans, peas, nuts, and lentils – require less energy, land, and water.”

It adds that every person who goes vegan ‘spares nearly 200 animals every year’, and reduces their own risk of several illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and obesity.
