Three artisan dairy-free cheeses are now available via online shopping platform Ocado.
They were created by food developer JULIENNE BRUNO, which says it is on a mission to ‘produce the most coveted ingredients for chefs and home cooks’.
The brand adds that its partnership with Ocado will address ‘the rising demand for dairy-free cheeses owing to an increase in flexitarian lifestyles and intolerances’, noting the UK vegan cheese market is set to quadruple by 2033.
Among the releases are BURRELLA, CREMATTA and SUPERSTRACCIA.
They are created in fresh batches weekly, from a blend of organic soya (for protein) and coconut oil (for fat), using a bespoke fermentation process.
Vegan Italian cheese
According to JULIENNE BRUNO, which created the range in 2020, the BURRELLA boasts a ‘delicate bite and creamy interior’.
The CREMATTA is a lightly whipped soft cream cheese, and the CREMATTA is a mix between a soft cheese and cheese curds, which can be enjoyed cold or warm (for example, served on pizza).
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Philip Khoury, the Head Pastry Chef at Harrods, who has used the products, described them as a high-quality option.
He said: “It’s important to note that its success isn’t derived from the fact that it is a vegan alternative – it’s a gastronomic delight that stands on its own.”

‘A dream come true’
Meanwhile, Axel Katalan, founder of Julienne Bruno, added: “This is a dream come true. When we set out to build the…brand, Ocado Retail was on the top of our aspirational list and thus we are so proud to announce this landmark partnership with them.
“We believe that plant-based food is the most exciting area in gastronomy and our listing on Ocado.com means that we are one step closer to making our products easily accessible to customers across the UK and as part of their weekly shop!”
And Freya O’Mara, Senior Buyer, Cheese at Ocado Retail, said: “We’re so excited to be the first grocery retailer to launch the full Julienne Bruno range.
“As appetite for vegan alternatives increases, Julienne Bruno is a great addition to our wide range of products on Ocado, helping our customers get their hands on some delicious cheese alternatives as part of their regular food shop.”
The range is available to purchase online via Julienne Bruno’s website and on Ocado, as well as in the Foodhall in Selfridges London, the Harrods Fresh Market Hall, Daylesford Organic and select Whole Foods stores.
