Gail’s has launched its first vegan dish – and it features dairy-free Italian cheese from artisan brand JULIENNE BRUNO.

Chain bakery Gail’s, which has 107 outlets across the UK, has rolled the new Courgette and Muhammara Salad in all of its branches.

It offers a mix of courgette, lemon juice, oregano, peas, rocket, Kalamata olives and the Syrian- inspired dip, Muhammara, which uses pepper, cumin and walnut.

To top it off, it contains the SUPERSTRACCIA – a creamy and rich vegan cheese which the brand says ‘complements [the salad] flavours brilliantly’.

According to JULIENNE BRUNO, the cheese is ‘created in fresh batches weekly combining natural fermentation methods and creative gastronomy to make a product that stands out for its exceptional taste and texture’.

Collaboration with Gail’s

Speaking about the collaboration in a statement, Axel Katalan, founder of the brand, said: “Our idea is simple, create products that are so good, they stand up on their own right.

“Working with such a loved foodie brand as Gail’s really supports this and signals the start of a new conversation when it comes to original products made with plants. We can’t wait for people to choose based on taste and not labels.”

Meanwhile, a post on Instagram announcing the launch said: “We’re thrilled to announce that you can now find JULIENNE BRUNO on the menu @gailsbakery across their 100+ locations.”

It added: “With the first bakery opening in London’s Hampstead High Street in 2005, GAIL’s now has bakeries in neighbourhoods across London, Oxford, Brighton and beyond.

“As they’ve grown over the years, their philosophy has always remained the same, ‘to make good food that people love, and create bakeries that people want to keep coming back to’

“We couldn’t be happier to be partnered with GAIL’s and we can’t wait for you to try the salad. We hope it becomes one of your favourites like it is ours!”

Artisan cheese

The SUPERSTRACCIA is one of the brand’s options which is currently available in the UK.

In March, the brand launched the cheese, alongside BURRELLA and CREMATTA varieties on online shopping platform Ocado.

Speaking at the time of the launch, Head Pastry Chef at Harrods, Philip Khoury, described the cheese as a high-quality option.

He said: “It’s important to note that its success isn’t derived from the fact that it is a vegan alternative – it’s a gastronomic delight that stands on its own.”

The new SUPERSTRACCIA salad (RRP £4) is available nationwide in all 107 Gail’s sites.
