Vegan Christmas mains and trimmings

Returning for 2023 is Sainsbury’s Nut Roast with Spiced Orange and Cranberry Glaze (£7.25). This extra-special vegan nut roast is loaded with cashews, mushrooms, spinach and squash and has a moist but firm texture.

Topped with pistachios, almonds and tangy whole cranberries, it comes with a luscious spiced orange and cranberry glaze to pour over. It’s the perfect main for those who prefer classic vegan dishes to mock meats.
This nutty delight serves 3 and will be available to collect on 22, 23, 24 December.

Next is the supermarket’s Taste the Difference No Turkey Stuffed Crown with Sage and Onion Stuffing (£7.25).

Serving up to 4 people, this vegan Christmas roast is hand-prepared and made from soya protein that is said to be “Expertly infused with natural vegan flavours for a rich, meaty succulence”.

It captures all the flavour of a traditional roast and is stuffed with luscious sage and onion and topped with smoky vegan bacon rashers.

To ensure its succulent texture, it comes with a star-shaped herb melt that bastes and seasons the joint as it cooks.

New for 2023 is the impressively meaty No Beef Wellington (£6.75) which serves 4 and is great for families with both vegans and meat-eaters to cater for.

Sainsbury’s has swapped out the beef in this festive Wellington and replaced it with a succulent mushroom and pea protein joint before wrapping it in crisp, golden puff pastry, with tender leaf spinach and a rich mushroom, porcini and port wine duxelles.

Another new addition to the range this year is the Maple Parsnip, Chestnut & Sage Wreath (£7.25).

A lovely vegan alternative to a festive wreath, it’s wrapped in crisp puff pastry and seasoned with thyme, sage, parsley and a hint of black pepper.

It tastes as good as it looks and makes a fabulous centrepiece for your festive spread. Plus, there’s enough to serve 8 so no one has to miss out on having a slice!

No Christmas meal is completed without festive trimmings. Thankfully, Sainsbury’s has restocked its Plant Pioneers Vegan Trimmings Selection (£7.50) ahead of the big day.

Enough to feed 10 people, the vegan selection includes 10 peppery vegan mushroom sausages wrapped in vegan bacon and 12 mushroom stuffing balls lightly seasoned with sage and cracked black pepper..

Serve as part of your Christmas dinner or as canapés at a festive party.

If you fancy one but not the other, you can also pick up the Shroompups In Blankets and Sage & Onion Stuffing Balls separately.
