Budget supermarket giant Aldi has launched its biggest ever vegan cheese range, with prices starting as little as £1.49.

The retailer’s latest plant-based offerings have landed just in time for Veganuary and can be ordered in-store or online for Click and Collect.

Vegan cheese at Aldi

First up is Aldi’s Plant Menu Vegan Soft Cheese (£1.99) available in classic plain or garlic and herb flavours.

“Stir into pasta dishes, spread on sandwiches, or even use in baking recipes in place of regular cream cheese for the ultimate non-dairy treat,” the chain said in a statement.

Aldi’s Plant Menu Vegan Cheddar Style cheese is also back in store due to ‘popular demand’. Retailing at £1.99, the cheddar alternative is available in three varieties: block, grated, and sliced.

Customers can also pick up the retailer’s Plane Menu Vegan Continental Cheeses for £1.99, with a choice of Grated Mozzarella, ‘fake feta’ Greek Style Salad Cheese, and Grated Hard Cheese.

Aside from its own range, Aldi has also welcomed a slew of vegan cheese alternatives from popular brands.

Customers can now choose from Applewood’s Smoky Vegan Block (£2.29), Plant Based Boursin (£1.99), and Plant Based Babybel (£1.75).

Plant-based cheese market

Aldi’s vegan cheese range comes as the global plant-based cheese market is expected to exceed a whopping £6 billion by 2027.

Researchers say the industry will grow at a CAGR of nine percent, hitting 7.10 billion USD in the next four years.

Market Data Forecast says key drivers for the growth include concerns surrounding animal welfare, as well as awareness of the health impact of consuming animal products.
