Vegan cheese giant Violife has expanded its offerings with the launch of a new cheddar alternative.
Dubbed as ‘Cheddarton’, the block style cheese is made from coconut oil and is said to have a ‘crumbly and creamy texture’ that can be grated, sliced, and melted.
Violife says the new item produces less than half the carbon emissions of dairy cheese, and uses ‘two-thirds less land’.

A ‘delicious alternative’
According to The Grocer, Voilife’s Jess Milner said the new cheese had been subject to ‘extensive research and development’.
“[It’s] aimed at providing cheddar lovers with a delicious alternative that aligns with their values and dietary choices,” she added.
“We want to make it easy for consumers to make the switch without sacrificing on taste and texture. So, they can go plant-brd and stay cheesy.”
