What is a martini?
A traditional martini is a simple but effective mix of gin and vermouth, served cold with an olive garnish.
However, the term ‘martini’ has come to refer to a variety of different drinks, and many different cocktails now carry this label.
Along with more traditional variants, like the sweet, dry, or vodka martini, appletini and espresso martini cocktails are popular and well-known martini variants.
Are candy canes vegan?
Fortunately, most standard candy canes are vegan-friendly but there are a few animal ingredients to look out for.
Red food colouring can contain carmine, a colouring agent derived from beetles. This is growing increasingly rare, so most candy canes will be insect free.
It is unlikely that candy canes would contain gelatine, but it is worth checking the ingredients just in case.
