As the holiday season approaches, there’s nothing quite like a warm, creamy cup of eggnog to invoke the festive spirit.

What is eggnog?

Traditionally, eggnog is made with a blend of eggs, milk, sugar, and a dash of alcohol like rum, whiskey or brandy. It’s flavoured with aromatic spices like nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon and ginger to create a luscious, indulgent concoction that has become synonymous with Christmas.

How to make vegan eggnog

However, as vegans don’t eat eggs, we’ve reinvented this beloved classic with a vegan twist that retains all the creamy goodness and holiday nostalgia you crave.

Instead of eggs, we’ve used custard powder to make a vegan eggnog recipe with the same luxurious, velvety texture as the original. Thankfully, vegan-friendly custard powder (such as Bird’s) is easy to find as it’s an accidentally vegan product that’s readily available in supermarkets.

But what’s eggnog without those quintessential Christmas spices? Our recipe includes a generous dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger to infuse each sip with a warming depth of flavour that’s simply perfect for the festive season. These aromatic spices not only tantalise your taste buds but also evoke the comforting scents of holiday gatherings and crackling fires.

For those who appreciate an adult twist on their eggnog, we suggest adding a splash of whiskey, rum, or brandy to your glass. The depth and complexity of these spirits complement the creamy base, creating a drink that’s as sophisticated as it is comforting. It’s the perfect way to toast to the season with friends and loved ones.

So, this Christmas, let’s raise a glass to the animals and enjoy a warming glass of this simply delicious vegan eggnog.
