Our vegan toffee apples strike the perfect balance between sweet and tart. As you take that first crunchy bite, your taste buds will be treated to a symphony of flavours – the rich, buttery notes of golden syrup, the sharpness of apple, and the comforting warmth of caramelised sugar. It’s a taste sensation that lingers like a ghostly whisper.

The deep, blood-red hue of the toffee coating, achieved with just a few drops of food colouring, adds a ghoulish touch that’s perfect for Halloween. These apples become eerie masterpieces, reminiscent of forbidden fruit from haunted orchards.

How to make vegan caramel

To conjure the mesmerising vegan caramel, combine caster sugar, golden syrup, cider vinegar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then let it simmer without stirring.

For the perfect toffee texture, use a candy thermometer; when it reaches 150°C (300°F), remove it from the heat. Add a few drops of red food coloring and swirl. Remember, molten caramel is scorching, so handle with care!
