Growing vegan fast food chain Neat Burger is set to expand even further – this time opening its first branch in Italy.

The vegan eatery, which has a roster of high-profile investors including Lewis Hamilton and Leonardo DiCaprio, will open in Milan on November 15, according to Italian news outlet Scatti Di Gusto.

This latest branch will mark the eatery’s first foray into Italy.

It already has around 10 outlets in locations ranging from London’s Oxford Circus and Canary Wharf, to Nolita in New York, and Dubai Mall.

The Italian branch will open in the Merlata Bloom shopping center, a very large shopping mall whose location is described as standing ‘between the former Expo area and Cascina Merlata’.

The eatery’s menu, will, like its other branches, offer a range of traditional fast food fare – but without the animal products.

Dishes on the menu will include 100 percent plant-based burgers, chicken sandwiches, nuggets, fries, wraps, burritos, and more.

Another detail reported in the Italian press, is that like the Dubai outlet, the Milan eatery will offer table service (not currently a feature in the eight London or one US restaurant).

Like the other stores though, sustainability will be an important feature of the eatery.

On top of reducing its footprint by only serving plant-based food, the Milanese outlet will, like other outlets, focus on eco-friendly packaging.

All packaging in the restaurant will be plastic-free, and it has been reported that for every sandwich sold, a tree will be planted.

Success of the chain

Neat Burger opened its first chain – a central London branch – in 2019. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength, now operating in four countries.

Announcing the launch of the brand in 2019, Lewis Hamilton said: “I’m very passionate about being kinder to our world and also really respect Neat Burger’s commitment to more ethical practices and supporting small businesses, so this is something I’m also really proud to support.

“But it is also about the product. As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I believe we need a healthier high street option that tastes amazing but also offers something exciting to those who want to be meat-free every now and again.”

Meanwhile, investor Investor Tommaso Chiabra added: “The meat industry is the biggest contributor to greenhouse emissions, and its environmental impact is no longer sustainable together with the growth of population. Neat Burger aims to disrupt the non-sustainable food industry and become a force for good.”
