The family-run hotel, nestled in the Yorkshire Dales, says ‘plant-based food doesn’t have to mean compromise‘…

An award-winning hotel nestled in the Yorkshire Dales has become the first in England to go ‘100 per cent plant-based’.

The family-run hotel has scooped a slew of accolades, including the Tripadvisor Travellers Choice 2023, and is 98 per cent full year-round.

The hotel also boasts a stunning location with plenty of opportunities for walks in the British countryside, and it’s dog-friendly too!

Despite acknowledging the ‘risk’ of putting meat eaters off, Beck Hall has now committed to going fully vegan.

An ‘innovative’ vegan menu

“Our menus at Beck Hall are already around 50 percent plant-based and if you’ve ever tried our sticky toffee pudding you will know that plant-based food doesn’t have to mean compromise,” the establishment said.

“Over the past six months… We’ve been developing some of the most innovative, exciting and delicious dishes we’ve ever tried, anywhere!

“We believe that our plant-based food, from breakfast through to dinner, is for everyone…

“We hope you’ll support us in our new beginning. And, we look forward to welcoming back loyal guests alongside those new ones, who – like us – would love to visit a fully plant-based hotel offering the most incredible food, location and team.”

England’s first vegan hotel

Beck Hall will make the transition on December 1 2023, with all bookings including a free vegan breakfast.

Customers can choose from cosy en-suite rooms in an original 1705 cottage or more modern fittings with streamside views.

The owners said the bold move was sparked from a ‘personal journey’ which stemmed from ‘compassion for animals’ and led to the family going plant-based.

“We also recognise the positive impact eating more plants can have on the environment and on health,” they said. “We’ve never looked back.
