Joey Carbstrong along with a group of five animal activists occupied an abattoir, accusing it of ‘torturing pigs in gas chambers’.
The advocates occupied Cranswick Country Foods, which is understood to supply a number of retailers, in Thetford in the early hours of April 2.
Leading the protest, Joey Carbstrong tied the event in with his recently revealed undercover documentary Pignorant, timing the event to coincide with the launch of the film.
Meanwhile, this investigation featured footage from inside the Cranswick abattoir, with a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living saying it shows ‘frightened pigs writhing in agony as they are suffocated by the CO2 gas as well as workers hitting pigs in the face with handheld paddles in order to get them into the gas chamber’.

Joey Carbstrong speaks out
In the statement, Joey Carbstrong said: “We…occupied the gas chamber at Cranswick…in order to bring attention to the horrifying reality of UK slaughterhouses.
“The majority of the UK public are unaware that most pigs in the UK are tortured and killed in CO2 gas.
“My recently released investigation at Cranswick in Watton, exposes the facade of ‘humane slaughter’ in this country.
“The damning footage from our latest investigation brings to light the extreme agony, terror and distress these sensitive animals are forced to endure.”

Pignorant
Joey’s recent film Pignorant is a feature-length film that ‘includes gas chamber footage from an abattoir owned by Pilgrim’s Pride in Manchester’.
He noted that following its release, it quickly became popular on Amazon Prime.
This recent expose of Cranswick marks Joey Carbstrong’s second investigation into gas chambers in the UK.
Speaking about the investigation, Joey said: “[The Cranswick] protest and our recent investigation, like the Pignorant film, is about applying pressure to animal abusing companies, forcing transparency and sparking change, and I hope that the public will join us in our mission to demand justice for Pigs.”
The statement noted that Joey’s animal activism work has ‘garnered over 300 million views on social media. He has been featured on ITV (This Morning), Good Morning Britain, Channel 9 (Aus), Jeremy Vine show and many more. He has also been featured in documentaries on platforms such as BBC1, BBC3, & SBS’.
