La Vie has landed a contract with one of the UK’s biggest supermarkets to roll out its cold-cut vegan ham that contains five times less saturated fat than pork ham

La Vie has rolled out its highly-anticipated ham just in time for Veganuary.

The award-winning brand, born in France, says its plant-based cold cut competes with animal ham in ‘taste, smell, and texture’ without the cruelty.

Boasting an impressive 19.5g of protein per 100g, the meatless product is also free from nitrate and has five times less saturated fat than pork ham.

Starting January 1, the La Vie Vegan Ham, along with the brand’s plant-based bacon and bacon lardons, will hit the shelves in a major UK supermarket. La Vie says the move ‘signals a bright future for the plant-based industry’ despite reports insisting vegan food is on the decline.

Priced at £3 per 100g pack, the regular and smoked varieties of ham have launched into Tesco stores across the nation. Throughout January, customers will be able to get two packs for just £3.75.

La Vie’s Plant-Based Smoked Lardons and Smoked Bacon rashers are also on promotion at the supermarket – priced at £2 each from January 1-23.

A shift towards ‘conscious eating’

In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, La Vie CEO Nicolas Schweitzer described the partnership as a ‘true delight’ for the plant-based brand.

“The surge in demand for plant-based options in the UK underscores a shift towards conscious eating and sustainable choices,” he added. “We’re eager to be part of this movement, exclusively with Tesco, offering consumers a savoury and eco-friendly alternative.

“Our Plant-Based Ham, with its authentic taste and French flair, isn’t just a product—it’s a celebration of ethical choices and a flavourful future.”
