What is a white Russian?
A traditional white Russian cocktail is made with vodka, coffee liqueur, and cream and is usually served over ice in an old fashioned glass.
This vegan white Russian recipe uses soya cream and soya milk, along with vegan Baileys, to give a luxurious creamy finish.
Traditional white Russian cocktails are gently stirred, but we recommend a cocktail shaker for this recipe to reduce the risk of curdling.
Is Baileys vegan?
Most Irish cream liqueurs like Baileys will not be vegan by default, since they are made from dairy cream. However, many brands now offer dairy-free alternatives to Baileys, including M&S, Dirty Cow, and Baileys itself.
Some dairy-free Irish cream liqueurs are available in flavours like chocolate, coconut, or almond, which can add an extra dimension to this cocktail recipe.
Is Disaronno vegan?
Like many mainstream amaretto brands, Disaronno is vegan-friendly and does not use any animal ingredients or processes.
However, traditionally made amaretto uses an infusion of real amaretti biscuits, which contain egg whites.
This process is very unlikely to be used in modern recipes for mass-production, but it’s always worth checking if you’re using an unfamiliar brand.

- drizzle vegan caramel sauce
- 25 25 ml vegan Irish cream liqueur
- 25 25 ml Disaronno (or other vegan-friendly amaretto)
- 37.5 37.5 ml soya milk
- 37.5 37.5 ml soya cream
- rosemary, to garnish
- dairy-free dark chocolate, grated (optional)
- sea salt flakes (optional)
- You will also need
- cocktail shaker
Method
- Take the caramel sauce and use a teaspoon to drizzle it around the glass, while slowly turning the glass so you get a nice even swirling. Fill the glass with ice.
- Next, add the Irish cream liqueur, Disaronno, soya milk, and soya cream to your cocktail shaker, along with a few cubes of ice.
- Shake well and strain into the glasses. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a grating of dairy-free dark chocolate or some sea salt flakes.
