Emirates Palace has debuted six fully vegan hotel rooms as part of its rebrand to a Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

The five-star establishment, located in Abu Dhabi, recently unveiled the new rooms in the property’s West Wing.

Despite being more expensive to design, Emirates Palace says customers will not be charged more when booking a vegan room.

All of the new rooms are completely free from animal products, featuring wooden floors instead of wool carpets, faux vegan leather furniture, and bedding free from feathers.

Customers can also indulge with a vegan in-room dining menu and mini bars stocked with plant-based milk and a range of kombucha drinks.

Even the card key for the rooms are made from wood instead of plastic – and all air-fresheners have been replaced with a particular species of lillies that are said to improve air quality naturally.

Beyond the luxury rooms, Emirates Palace has also ensured vegan guests can enjoy its spa facilities without compromising on their ethics.

The hotel says it offers a range of vegan-friendly treatments using cruelty-free products, and provides guests with a free welcome fit featuring products from Tata Harper.

‘Relevant to the clientele’

According to reports, staff have also received training to ensure they fully understand vegan lifestyles.

“I am from Switzerland and we have a lot of vegan hotels. But, they all sit in the corner of ecological or sustainable. It doesn’t necessarily feel luxury, ” said GM Micheal Koth.

“We say, we need to be relevant to the clientele that uses us today and chooses this hotel, but who do not wish to be excluded from their lifestyle preferences when travelling to Abu Dhabi and to us.”
