Sainsbury’s has got us feeling jolly as it unveils all the delicious plant-based dishes on offer this Christmas so everyone can tuck into a traditional feast and feel some Christmas cheer, conscience clear!

This year, Sainsbury’s has worked hard to make sure that their offering for the 2020 festive season will ‘impress, and make this Christmas feel truly magical’.

Party Food

We may not be able to celebrate with as much vigour as in previous years this year, but Sainsbury’s is ensuring you can still enjoy your own Christmas at home with its tempting selection of plant-based party foods which includes a range of innovative offerings such as the Plant Pioneers No Belly Pork Bites (£3.30).

These meat-free nibbles are made from melt in the mouth jackfruit and king oyster mushroom, marinated in hoisin sauce and fragrant spice and topped with a rich spiced
coconut layer and perfectly finished with our sweet and sticky BBQ sauce.

There’s also Sweet & Smoky BBQ Jackfruit Bao Buns (£3.30) and Sweet Chilli Cauliflower Bites (£3) if you’re looking for the perfect snack to serve your guests this Christmas.

Another novel new nibble joining the party food line-up comes in the form of the Plant Pioneers No Fish and Chips (£4). These delicious, vegan bites are made from lightly battered jackfruit and oyster mushrooms topped with vibrant mushy peas and potato chips.

Mains & Sides

You’ll wonder why everyone else sticks to eating poor old turkeys every year when you feast your eyes on the marvellous meat-free mains on offer from December 9 at Sainsbury’s this year!

There’s no need to compromise with a vegan Christmas dinner this year with the showstopping Plant Pioneers No Beef Wellington (£3) which is filled with an indulgent mushroom duxelle with spinach and a kick of horseradish, all tucked up tight in crispy and flaky vegan puff pastry.

Offering a tasty alternative to poultry, the Plant Pioneers No Turkey Parcels (£6) are a meat-free marvel with turkey-flavoured seitan, filled with rich sage and onion stuffing all wrapped up with a delicious smoky Vacon rasher.

If you prefer more traditional vegan options then the Mushroom & Chesnut Roast (£3) with crisp cashews almonds and pistachios in a savoury mushroom, butternut squash and spinach base with tangy cranberries is bound to please.

Sainsbury’s has even got sides covered to take the stress out of cooking on the big day with Roasting Potatoes (£2.00), Maple & Thyme Parsnips (£2.50), a cheesy Cauliflower Bake (£2.50) also joining the range.

If you really feel like pushing the boat out (it’s Christmas so you have plenty of excuses too!) then pick up the Plant Pioneers Potato Dauphinoise (£2.50) made from thinly sliced potatoes in garlic, nutmeg, vegan cheddar sauce topped with crunchy breadcrumbs.

Dessert

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a delicious dessert, and this year Sainsbury’s has the indulgent Plant Pioneers Chocolate Salted Caramel Star – a dairy-free panna cotta style treat made with rich Belgian dark chocolate and salted caramel sauce.

The retailer is also offering vegan-friendly Cranberry & Orange Tiffin Bites (£2.25) as part of its free-from range which are ideal for those who are also gluten-free.

‘Entire vegan Christmas dinner covered’

Claire Hughes, Head of Quality & Innovation, said: We’ve worked hard this year to ensure we’ve got an extra special offering for every lifestyle. We saw a 54% increase in customers buying meat-free Christmas products last year, so we’re really excited to be introducing a new show-stopping vegan centrepiece, the Plant Pioneers No Turkey Parcels – a true meat-free marvel!

“And we haven’t stopped there; we know more than ever our customers are searching for newness and innovation within the vegan space. From the Plant Pioneers Cauliflower Bake to the Plant Pioneers Potato Dauphinoise we have the entire vegan Christmas dinner covered.

“Plus, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a delicious dessert, and this year we have the Plant Pioneers Chocolate Salted Caramel Star – a dairy-free panna cotta style treat made with rich Belgian dark chocolate and salted caramel sauce.
