Beyond Meat has announced it has released new, healthier versions of some of its most popular products.
According to the company, the fourth iteration of its Beyond Meat is made with avocado oil, which ‘provides heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, and have just 2g of saturated fat per serving’.
In addition, the product contains 21g of protein from peas, brown rice, red lentils, and faba beans.
The new recipe, which the brand says is the result of years of R&D ‘raises the bar for plant-based meat products and centre-of-the-plate protein generally’.
It also notes the that Beyond IV product line is based not only on taste, but on ‘deliver[ing] important nutritional benefits’, and made in collaboration with ‘leading medical and nutrition experts designed to meet the standards of top health organisations’.

Described as an ‘extensive renovation’, the latest iteration focuses on ‘delivering goodness from plants – high-quality protein, good fats, fibre and key nutrients – in the company’s meatiest products yet’.
According to Beyond Meat, one of its ‘most impactful’ changes is its move to avocado oil ‘which helped reduce the saturated fat in the products by 60 per cent to just 2g per serving’.
Additionally, Beyond Meat ‘reduced the sodium in its new recipe by 20 per cent and added nutrient-dense plant-based ingredients including red lentil and faba bean protein while simultaneously simplifying the ingredient list’.
According to a statement released by Beyond Meat: “These strong advancements in nutrition have qualified the new products to be recognized by the nation’s leading health organisations, including the American Diabetes Association’s evidence-based nutritional guidelines for its Better Choices for Life program and being included in a collection of heart-healthy recipes certified by the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check program.
“Additionally, the new products have received Good Housekeeping’s coveted Nutritionist Approved Emblem which assesses food products based on specific nutritional criteria as well as taste, simplicity, and transparency, and are the first plant-based meat products to be Clean Label Project Certified.”

The company says when polled at a recent conference of registered dietitians, 94 per cent of attendees ‘said they enjoyed the taste of the new Beyond Burger, viewed it as healthful, and would recommend it’.
