Award-winning brand Lazy Day has launched a slew of new vegan cakes.

The Scottish company was founded in 2006 by Dr Sally Beattie and Emer Bustard.

The duo says they were ‘motivated to create indulgent, high-quality treats for allergy sufferers based on their personal and family dietary restrictions’.

Now, the brand has secured a plethora of listings with major supermarkets across the UK.

Lazy Day vegan cakes – where to buy

Lazy Day’s most exciting release has to be its Mini Vic the Vegan Caterpillar Cakes.

Retailing at £3.50 for a pack of four, the dairy-free treat is available in Morrison’s and Co-Op, and will hit the shelves in Sainsbury’s from September 2023.

“Mini Vic the Vegan Caterpillar Cakes are sure to become a firm favourite with both children and adults,” Lazy Day said in a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living

“[The] Chocolate sponge is encased in chocolate frosting, covered in Belgian dark chocolate, topped with multi-coloured sugar decorations and features a Belgian chocolate and milk free white chocolate flavour face.”

The brand has also debuted a vanilla sponge tray bake (£4.50) into Sainsbury’s stores nationwide – featuring a ‘vanilla frosting and multi-coloured sugar confetti.’.

Customers can also pick up a Celebration Chocolate Cake (£7.50) exclusively at Sainsbury’s. The three-layered cake is ‘filled and covered with lashings of Belgian chocolate’.

  • Belgian Chocolate Cake Bars (£2.65) – available from Tesco
  • Salted Caramel Crispies (£2.65) – available from Tesco, Waitrose, and Ocado 
  • Millionaire’s Shortbread (£2.65) – available from Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, Waitrose, Whole Foods, and Ocado
  • Rocky Road (£2.65) – available from Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Whole Foods and Ocado
  • Dark Chocolate Belgian Tiffin (£2.65) – available from Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, Waitrose, Whole Foods, and Ocado

‘Encourage inclusivity’

The brand says it’s on a ‘mission to raise awareness of food allergies and encourage inclusivity around moments of joy’.

Moreover, its bakery is totally vegan, gluten-free, milk and egg-free. There are also no nuts on-site either.
