Jennifer Coolidge has been crowned a ‘Vegan Queen’ thanks to her ‘commitment to animal liberation’.
The White Lotus star received the accolade during Women’s History Month 2023 from vegan charity PETA.
The organisation says Coolidge has been fighting for animal rights since 2003, when she featured on the cover of PETA’s cruelty-free shopping guide.
A ‘huge heart for animals’
“Jennifer Coolidge’s huge heart for animals is rivalled only by the size of her talent,” said PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange.
“PETA is crowning her our ‘Vegan Queen’ this year for using every opportunity she gets to encourage everyone to keep cruelty to animals out of their cuisine, closets, and cosmetics.”
Is Jennifer Coolidge vegan?
In a recent interview with Elle Decor, the celeb was described as a ‘devout vegan and animal-rights advocate’.
According to PETA, Coolidge also turned down a commercial with a hotdog company, despite being well-known for her iconic line “I want a hot dog, real bad.”
The charity claims the star would only agree to the shoot if the company created a plant-based sausage, adding: “You cannot tell the difference. The science that has gone into them, they’re just as tasty.”
The actor also once described herself as “passionate about vegan and cruelty-free beauty” and has two dogs she adopted, one from the meat trade.
From singers to actors, stars around the world are ditching meat and going vegan. Find out who’s leading the way with our guide to vegan celebrities.
