In an interview with ET, iconic Clueless actress Alicia Silverstone told readers her son Bear is ‘an example of health’ thanks to his vegan diet.
According to the star, her son is ‘so healthy’ that he has never needed antibiotics or ‘any kind of medical intervention’ in nine years.
Alicia is a passionate animal activist, and has even posed nude for a PETA campaign, claiming she would ‘rather go naked than wear wool’.
Having followed a vegan diet herself for over twenty years, it seems only natural than she would choose a plant-based diet for her son. In nine years, Bear has only fallen sick twice and quickly recovered, demonstrating his amazing health.
‘They can do better’
In the interview, Alicia gushed about how amazing a vegan diet has been for her son.
“He’s just so healthy. I just want to share that with the world. So people can see that a plant-based baby is really healthy… It’s not like they’re just doing okay. They can do better.”
And vegans can do better. Dozens of athletes and celebrities have spoken about the health benefits they’ve experienced on a vegan diet.
Just one example is Formula-1 champion Lewis Hamilton, who told Men’s Health: “I have more energy; I’m so much more productive.
“I wake up feeling way better, clearer in thought and fresher in my body. I recover quicker; I sleep better. My skin cleared up. I have fewer allergies. There are just so many impacts.”

A vegan diet and good behaviour?
In another interview, Alicia also credited a vegan diet as the reason for her son’s good behaviour.
The actress told US Weekly “I’ve never had to raise my voice to Bear.
“I can just say ‘No, thank you’ and we respect each other and listen to each other. A lot of it is parenting, but a lot of it is the food. When your kid feels good, they act well.”
Alicia said the two of them eat veggie burgers together, as well as cabbage, brown rice, quinoa and kale “almost every day”.
Food is a significant factor in our moods, and it has been shown that a reduced intake of processed foods (typically containing meat and dairy) can really make us ‘feel good’ as Alicia said.
