Cadbury Plant Bar review
Following the announcement of Cadbury’s first vegan-certified chocolate, Plant Bar, we have been itching to get our hands on it!
After receiving this lovely purple parcel in the post I couldn’t stop myself from tucking in before even taking a picture – please forgive me.
Both Plant Bars were equally delicious with subtle hints of almond and an incredibly creamy and smooth texture.
The Smooth Chocolate was my favourite for its simplicity, although, the Salted Caramel flavour will definitely be a winner for those wanting that extra crunch!
Admittedly, we were hoping that the bars would resemble the classic Dairy Milk bar more. The new vegan chocolate bars do have a hint of that slightly waxy texture you find in cheaper dairy-free chocolates.
Plus, while the inclusion of almonds in the ingredients is delicious, it’s a shame Cadbury’s didn’t release a plain bar without nuts.
I also wish the chocolate bar was thicker because traditionally Cadbury’s chocolate is a lot thicker making them perfect to share.
“It took us time to get it just right”
While a number of people were sceptical of the new launch from Cadbury, many were excited to taste try the Plant Bar.
Some questioned why it took so long for the brand to release its first vegan-certified chocolate, while others wondered if the addition of milk powder to the brand’s iconic accidentally vegan Bournville chocolate was in preparation for the official vegan release.
Cadbury issued an apology during the launch of the Plant Bar, explaining: “It took us time to get it just right, but we hope you agree, it was worth the wait!”
We hope that the Plant Bar will encourage people to ditch dairy and try something new.
