M&S has expanded its vegan Plant Kitchen range with a slew of new products which are available in stores now.
The line, which already boasted some 250 options, has been expanded with what the outlet describes as ‘incredible’ new foods, just in time for Veganuary.
According to the retailer, it has ‘really experimented’ this year, ‘trying out new proteins, and dairy alternatives’, spending 18 months on recipe development on its new items.
As a result, it is adding a meat-free chicken and chorizo sandwich, ‘nduja paste, chicken and pepper pizza, Victoria sponge cake, and fried chicken seasoning to its line-up.

Those looking for a grab-and-go option may enjoy the new Plant Kitchen No Chicken & Chorizo Sandwich, which it describes as being ‘made with succulent wheat and pea protein, a tangy lemon paprika dressing, a tomato crush and rocket’.
Sweet-toothed diners have also been taken care of, with the range’s Victoria Sponge cake, which it says is ‘perfect for sharing’.
For full vegan meals, plant-based shoppers need look no further than the store’s revamped Plant Kitchen Green Thai Curry, which boasts sweet potatoes, edamame soybeans and Tenderstem broccoli in a coconut, ginger and lime curry, served with jasmine rice.
Another ready meal option is the new Stonebaked Vegan Chicken and Pepper Pizza, topped with tomato sauce, herb chicken and grilled peppers.
However, according to M&S, one of the items it is most proud of is its Plant Kitchen Vegan ‘Nduja Paste, a spicy tomato paste with olive oil, smoked paprika and chilli.
Additionally, its Plant Kitchen High Protein Vegan Choco Crunch, made from chocolate oat and barley crunch with soya protein crispies and dark chocolate curls, also now boasts M&S’ Eat Well health seal of approval.

‘So proud’
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Marie Ford, M&S Product Developer, says: “We are so proud of our launches for Plant Kitchen this January!
“When we’re developing products we make sure customers never compromise on taste, and the product is just as good as or BETTER than its non-vegan equivalent.
“That’s why the product I’m most excited about is our ‘Nduja paste. It took 20 weeks to develop, and it was a real challenge as we wanted it to get that perfect balance of flavours so it is as delicious as a non-vegan ‘Nduja pasta, and I’m happy to say we NAILED IT.
“It is perfect for adding spicy and smoky depth to any dish, I recommend stirring a spoonful into your favourite pasta and sauce for an EPIC dinner!”
