Magnum has expanded its vegan offering in the UK with new plant-based ice cream sticks

Unilever-owned brand Magnum has unveiled its new Chill Blueberry Cookie ice cream sticks.

Featuring vegan vanilla biscuit flavour ice cream, it’s wrapped in a vegan chocolate coating with crunchy cookie pieces. On top of that, and said to be inspired by ‘the feeling of relaxation’, it has a fruity blueberry sorbet core.

Its new offering is available both individually and as a pack of three, priced at £3.99 and widely available in major UK supermarkets.

According to Magnum, the new Chill Blueberry Cookie ice cream stick is part of a new ‘mood-inspired’ range.

The range also includes a Euphoria Pink Lemonade flavour, however, it should be noted that this version is not suitable for vegans.

In a statement, the company revealed it had been working on developing the product for some time.

Daniel Lythgo, Brand Manager for Magnum UK at Unilever, said: “After two years in the making, we are thrilled to introduce our revolutionary mood-inspired range that offers a multi-sensory ice cream experience thanks to our surprising sorbet core, a Magnum first.

“We always kick off the year with big innovation to get more people into the ice cream aisle all year round.”

The new product means Magnum’s vegan offering has now expanded further, with several options on offer.

Among its plant-based treats are Classic sticks, Almond, Raspberry Swirl, and Sea Salt Caramel flavours.

The brand pledged to make more vegan options available after its Sea Salt Caramel flavour scooped a PETA award in 2021, and has kept true to its word.

Magnum goes vegan in the UK

The brand launched its first vegan offering in the UK in 2018.

After pressure from fans, the long-awaited vegan treats launched in two new flavours: Vegan Classic and Vegan Almond.

Mangum’s vegan ice cream is made from pea protein and coated in smooth, rich vegan chocolate.

Magnum’s new vegan products are approved by the European Vegetarian Union as suitable for vegans. Finish food wholesaler Kespro claims that they will also be Rainforest Alliance Certified.

Until 2018, the ice creams had only been available in Sweden and Finland, but (much like Ben & Jerry’s) the brand is now extending its reach to other countries.

Going plant-based doesn’t mean ditching ice cream – it’s easy to make your own. Give it a try with these simple vegan ice cream recipes.
