Actor and activist Pamela Anderson has acquired vegan and cruelty-free skincare brand Sonsie after making headlines by ditching makeup

The star, who is best known for her acting work in the 90s on shows like Baywatch, has become a powerful advocate for multiple causes.

Most famously, Pamela has been a vegan for many years and is a passionate animal rights activist.

She used to be known for her glamour-heavy look, with smokey eyes and large false lashes.

But she has recently started to speak out more about going bare-faced – a bold move in a world so obsessed with appearances, and one which ties in with focussing more on her skincare regime to get a glowing look without using cosmetics.

It was on September 27, 2023, that Pamela Anderson made her major aesthetic statement, attending the Parisian show of upmarket fashion brand The Row (created by the Olsen twins).

Aging and acceptance

However, Pamela had spoken out before then about accepting the aging process, telling W Magazine in 2016, that she enjoys getting older.

She even suggested that she now regretted getting breast implants ‘in the name of beauty’ when she was younger.

Her embrace of the barefaced look has seen her appear on the cover of Women’s Wear Daily, where she spoke about natural beauty, and about accepting your age.

Prestige quoted the icon as saying: “Sometimes it’s challenging and you just have to understand that you are good enough and that you are beautiful.”

She went on to add, “Chasing youth is just futile.”

What is Sonsie Skin?

Now, to highlight her love of barefaced makeup, the actor and advocate has acquired Sonsie.

Through the brand, she aims to promote prioritising skincare over makeup, a bare-face over heavy cosmetics, and above all, stand against animal cruelty.

The brand was co-founded by German-born model and creator Marie von Behrens-Felipe and CEO Roberto A. Felipe, in the summer of 2023.

According to a press statement: “As a new player in the skincare industry, Sonsie imparts a routine reset: an ethical, minimalist, and luxurious way to care for your skin.

“The products are vegan, clean, cruelty-free, and meet or exceed the intensive standards set by the European Union for safer formulations.”

‘An icon’

Discussing Pamela acquiring a stake, co-founder, Marie von Behrens-Felipe, said: Pamela is an icon, trailblazer, and someone I admire deeply.

“We share the same values and vision: for everyone to accept, celebrate, and love their true selves; to feel good in our own skin… I couldn’t be more grateful for Pamela’s belief in Sonsie.” –

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Pamela as Co-Founder,” said CEO, Roberto A. Felipe.

“Her authenticity, character, and insight will propel Sonsie forward, fostering global awareness. In the dynamic landscape of the skincare industry, Sonsie unfolds as a narrative of self-acceptance, love, and the pursuit of Beyond Healthy Skin. We can’t wait to continue building with our Sonsie family.” –CEO, Roberto A. Felipe.

Meanwhile, Pamela Anderson added: “To me, true beauty is about celebrating authenticity… I want to look like myself, feel like myself, and that means taking care of myself — inside and out…”
