Tesco has expanded its vegan Plant Chef range for Veganuary 2024 – with some unexpected dishes added to its growing line-up.

These include comfort food dishes inspired by food from the USA, India, Asia and Mexico

According to the retail giant, it wants to make plant-based eating ‘easy for all’ with the additions to its range, describing the offerings as ‘new and improved’.

According to a statement sent from the retailer to Vegan Food & Living, the ‘upgraded range features a whole host of fan favourite dishes, 100 per cent plant-based, that pack a tasty punch with big, bold flavours’.

Its new offerings will be available in store and online from January 1 to tie-in with Veganuary 2024, which expects once more to see major numbers of people sign up.

In 2023, more than 700,000 people officially participated globally, with many more expected to have taken part without officially signing up.

According to Tesco’s statement about the range: “Plant Chef is not only designed for those already eating a vegan diet, but is also perfect for anyone looking to include more plant-based meals in their weekly routine, with a selection of convenient meals that don’t compromise on taste.”

“And Tesco Plant Chef No-Beef Meatballs (£2.00) which are high in soya protein, with both flavours and seasoning designed to create the perfect addition to a bowl of pasta.”

The retailer adds that its expanded range’ also brings a taste of other cuisines from around the world’, including dishes inspired by food from the USA, India, Asia and Mexico.

Its statement adds: “Indulge in comforting Southern Fried seasoning with the Tesco Plant Chef 2 Meat Free Southern Fried Fillets (£2.50) or add some heat with the Tesco Plant Chef Hot & Spicy No-Chicken Strips (£2.10) and the Tesco Plant Chef Sweet Potato Katsu Style Curry (£3.00).
