This vegan fig jam recipe is incredibly easy to make, and can be ready in as little as 30 minutes.

The natural sweetness of the figs balances beautifully with tart lemon juice to create a sweet and tangy jam that’s handy for all sorts of meals.

Fig jam is perfect for spreading on toast, bagels, or muffins, or using as a topping for porridge, yoghurt, or ice cream. It can also be used as a delicious and healthy filling for cakes, tarts, and other baked goods.

Is this fig jam healthy?

This jam recipe uses fresh figs, which are packed with nutrients that can help support overall health and wellbeing, making them a great addition to any healthy vegan diet.

Figs are an excellent source of dietary fibre, which can help improve digestion, lower cholesterol levels, and promote feelings of fullness.

While this recipe does use added sugar, it is still a healthier alternative to store-bought jams that can be filled with preservatives, artificial sweeteners, or high-fructose corn syrup.

Additionally, by making your own jam at home, you have control over the amount of sugar you use, allowing you to create a perfectly balanced, sweet and tangy jam that meets your personal taste preferences.

Can I use dried figs instead of fresh figs for this recipe?

While it’s possible to use dried figs to make this fig jam, the end result may be slightly different in terms of texture and flavour. Dried figs are more concentrated in sugar so you may want to reduce the amount of granulated sugar used.

If using dried figs, soak them in warm water for about 30 minutes to soften them before using in the recipe.
