This vegan fig jam recipe is incredibly easy to make, and can be ready in as little as 30 minutes.
The natural sweetness of the figs balances beautifully with tart lemon juice to create a sweet and tangy jam that’s handy for all sorts of meals.

Is this fig jam healthy?

Can I use dried figs instead of fresh figs for this recipe?
While it’s possible to use dried figs to make this fig jam, the end result may be slightly different in terms of texture and flavour. Dried figs are more concentrated in sugar so you may want to reduce the amount of granulated sugar used.
If using dried figs, soak them in warm water for about 30 minutes to soften them before using in the recipe.

- 400 400 g figs, stemmed and cut into half-inch pieces
- 300 300 g granulated sugar
- 60 60 ml fresh water
- 60 60 ml lemon juice
- 1 1 pinch salt
- 1 1 vanilla pod, split lengthways and seeds scraped
Method
- In a medium saucepan place all ingredients and bring to a boil until sugar dissolves, stir occasionally. Reduce to a low heat and cook the figs uncovered, stirring occasionally, for roughly 30-60 minutes until a thick and sticky jam consistency.
- Remove from heat and discard vanilla pod.
- Process the jam in a food processor and spoon into jars. Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate.
- Store the jam in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
